Sorry for not having given any news for a while but for Jeanne and me, it’s been pretty crazy for the last few weeks.
So this is why we are starting this blog so you can all follow our new life here in Dubai.
After having been here now for a month and a half we have both settled well in our villa at arabian ranches and the kids love it. Our jobs are great, we are really happy and it’s really a town that is growing very fast.
We haven’t had much time to go out but we decided to go and visit the north emirates yesterday with some friends, and what a great day out it was!!
We left Dubai early and made our way straight up the emirates road all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, when tony said ‘’ follow me before we go anywhere we must stop at the power house’’ no idea of what he was talking about first and here we go past the etisalat building then the Hilton hotel and here we enter what look liked the local power station.

Jeanne and I were looking at each other thinking what the heck, Then suddenly coming to a dead end and arriving on a parking lot, WOW!!! There was an alcohol shop. Big smile came on our faces and thought great what a good start to the day. The shop that everybody calls the power house is very big and they have every drinks you could wish for, from Heineken to Carlsberg and Budweiser, They even had Guinness (has you know my favorite).
Jeanne went straight to the wine section and she was overwhelmed with the large choices of white and red wines they had. She took a nice bottle of French wine called Toque Noire and has for Craig and Tina they were more into the spirits and bought a nice bottle of black label. So not only they had a great choice but the prices where at least 30% cheaper than anything we had seen in Dubai and the best thing is that you don’t need an alcohol license to purchase the drinks so no wories about the quantity you want to take.
that was done The car loaded with our liquors and beers we headed towards musandam where we found a great place to stop, got our picnic out, got all our drinks out and had a wonderful barbecue, we had a nice swim and we felt like back home on a nice Sunday afternoon by the beach sipping down our wines and beers and just letting the stress from Dubai disappear.
A couple of hours later after having had a right laugh and no more drinks to go we headed back to Dubai with the souvenir of the best day out we have had since we were here.
So my dear friends I can guaranty you that when you visit us we will definitely take you for a visit of the north emirates and for sure we will make a stop at the power house before enjoying the rest of the day.
And for anybody from Dubai reading this blog, if you get the chance to go and visit the northern emirates and you are not sure where the power house is you can look up on their website at the map centaurusint.com.
Our adventures here are just starting and we will definitely keep you up to date on our next trips coming soon but we are going to go round and visit the country much more now because there is really a lot to see and to enjoy outside Dubai.
Harry, Jeanne and the kids.

Musandam is a great weekend getaway from Dubai. The country is so different and it is only a short drive. We are off to Muscat in Oman in a couple of weeks for a long weekend.
